ORLANDO, Fla. (July 11, 2020) – Daisy Morales joined the Women Democrats of Orange County in their “Caravan for Joe” event. With balloons, bubbles, and blaring horns, Team Daisy brought the noise and the joy for Joe Biden, all while connecting with the community at the same time.

While this was an event meant for women, it was interesting to spot an HD48 opponent, Samuel Vilchez Santiago, there. Rather confusing, given that none of the other HD48 candidates came–and rightly so. All in all, a great day nonetheless.

[Orlando Politics] Local Organization to Present Political Forum 2020

ORLANDO, Fla. (June 24, 2020) – The non-profit organization Mujer Emprende Latina, will hold the 2nd edition of its signature event –“Raise Your Voice”, an informative panel about the 2020 Election, made up of women leaders and candidates  running for political office.

The event will consist of two main sessions: ‘Women, Facing the 2020 Elections’ and ‘Raise Your Voice 2020’, which will take place on July 2 and 30, 2020 at 2:00 pm through the digital platform of Zoom. [See Orlando Politics]

‘Women, Facing the 2020 Elections’ will feature the participation of Latina candidates for mayor of Kissimmee, aspiring Commissioners of the city, Orange County and Osceola. Among them: Lisandra Román, Jackie Espinoza, Olga Castaño, Kissimmee City Commissioner Olga González, Orange County Commissioner Mayra Uribe, Daisy Morales, and State Representative Amy Mercado.

The panelists will share details of their inspiring life stories, their positions, ideas and solutions to the social problems that affect women, in addition to their agendas and possible contributions to their positions in government. In addition, the event will feature the special participation of Orange County Commissioner Maribel Gómez-Cordero, Johanna López – from the Orange County school board, Yanidsi Vélez- Director of Hispanic Federation, ansJeanette Quiñonez – Office of Senator Marco Rubio.

“We are in an election year and as part of our social responsibility, at Mujer Emprende we want to continue promoting the position of women leaders in high levels of government, from where they can carry out a leading role in decision-making and positively impact life of our nation, ”said Marieangie Rosario, Director of Mujer Emprende Latina in Orlando.

The National Organization ‘Hispanic Federation’, for the second year, joins as an integral part of this effort, which also promotes and educates on the Latino vote. “For our Organization it is very important that Latinos exercise their right to vote in order to make their voices heard by our government. The 2018 electoral process was distinguished by historical female political participation and we hope that in 2020 many more women will come to occupy positions of power, ” said Yanidsi Velez,  Regional Director of the Hispanic Federation.

Both sessions will feature distinguished journalistic figures from our Community and will be broadcast simultaneously from the Facebook page of Mujer Emprende Latina Orlando and Hispanic Federation .

In the coming weeks, the organization, Mujer Emprende Latina, will announce the details of the second event ‘Raise Your Vote 2020‘.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Supervisor Daisy Morales‘ campaign announces endorsement from Asian American community leader and Florida House District 43 candidate Andrew Jeng in her primary race for State Representative.

Jeng is a global business leader who has served as the president of the Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs of Central Florida, Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida, and Kiwanis Club of Kissimmee. Jeng is also a former police lieutenant of the Taiwan National Police Agency and a current member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). Congressman Darren Soto also recently recognized Jeng in the Congressional Record as a distinguished community leader on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Supervisor Daisy Morales campaign picked up another State Representative’s endorsement in her primary race for Florida State Representative of House District 48: State Representative Bruce Antone, who represents House District 46.

Representative Antone is a veteran state lawmaker who served as the Democratic Ranking Member of the House’s Education Committee and the Government Operations Appropriations Subcommittee. He also served as the chairman of the Florida Legislative Black Caucus.

While Morales was the only elected official candidate to enter the race just three weeks ago, she was the first candidate to meet Florida’s requirements to earn a spot on the ballot.

“Our campaign is humbled by the outpouring of support from across Orange County, specially in House District 48. The hard work of my family, friends, and our amazing team of volunteers has enabled me to qualify for the primary election ballot to compete for the Democratic nomination, Supervisor Daisy Morales. “I’m the only candidate in this race with a proven track record of defeating my opponents to win back-to-back countywide elections. In 2018, over 256,000 voters or 64% of the total votes trust me to be their elected leader for a second four-year term.

ORLANDO, Fla. (FNN NEWS) – Orange Soil & Water Conservation District Supervisor Daisy Morales is resigning from her countywide seat two years early in order to meet the Resign-To-Run Law deadline Friday, May 29.

Supervisor Morales is officially running for Florida State Representative of House District 48 seat held by Representative Amy Mercado, who’s seeking to unseat incumbent Orange County Property Appraiser Rick Singh.

“On Wednesday, May 27, I officially submitted my resignation letter from the Orange Soil & Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors to Governor Ron DeSantis, effective November 4, 2020,” she said in a press release.

For the last six years, Supervisor Morales has made a name for herself in county politics and community advocacy. She is known for being highly visible at public events, hosting environmental tours for low-income children and communities of color, obtaining federal funding for constituents, erecting conservation district signs at Orange-Osceola and Orange-Seminole county lines, and developing strong working relationships with Orange County Commissioners and other elected officials across the state.

Florida House District 48 quickly became a crowded race, now boasting seven candidates–six Democrats and most recently one Republican, Jesus Martinez. The other five Democrats are Nelson Pena, Julio L. Rocha, Alex Taylor, Anthony Tsonis, and Samuel Vilchez Santiago, who was recently endorsed by State Representative Carlos Guillermo Smith.

At the Orange Soil & Water Conservation District Board, Seats 1,2,3 and 5 are open for election. A special election will be held to fill the remaining term of Morales’ seat (Seat 2). It appears none of the Supervisors up for re-election have yet filed to run for re-election.

(May 29, 2020) – International R&B and Dance artist Lillie Nicole McCloud is using her star power to rally her millions of followers to support and vote for Daisy Morales for State Representative of Florida House District 48. The outspoken singer, who resides in Orlando, has endorsed Supervisor Morales, highlighting her passion for advocacy and leadership in her role as Orange County Soil & Water Conservation District Supervisor.

McCloud posted a portion of her endorsement on Facebook in response to Supervisor Morales’s announcement of her candidacy. “You are an amazing woman. This isn’t the first time the famed music artist has supported Morales for public office. Then Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings and U.S. Congressman Alan Grayson played an important role in her swearing in ceremony in 2014. “She [McCloud] performed at the event, Demings led the Pledge Allegiance and Congressman Grayson administered the Oath of Office,” said Supervisor Morales.
