Daisy is a trusted public servant who was elected State Representative in 2020, elected countywide Soil & Water Conservation District Supervisor in 2014, and reelected 2018, and worked as a federal employee for the US Government for 24 years. Daisy has resided in Orange County since 1989 and is mother to a military veteran who served with honor.

Daisy served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2020 to 2022, where she has made an impact as an effective state lawmaker. During her time in the Florida Legislature, she sponsored and cosponsored over 100 bipartisan bills that were signed into law by the Governor.

She cut taxes on Florida families, while balancing historic state budgets and maintaining record reserves during the 2021 and 2022 Legislative Sessions.

She was a member of the following Florida House of Representatives committees:

  • Education & Employment Committee
  • Post-Secondary Education & Lifelong Learning Subcommittee
  • Agriculture & Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee

ECONOMY & JOBS

I support…

✔️ Work to create incentives for companies to innovate in Florida.

✔️ Support employers, especially our small businesses.

✔️ Union rights and the ability of workers to bargain for better wages and benefits.

✔️ A strong safety net to help people get back on their feet.

✔️ Expanding public transportation options to increase employment accessibility and provide a safe and economical way to get to and from work.

EDUCATION

I believe ….

✔️ This starts with affordable or free childcare and preschool for all kids and continues on through making college and technical training affordable and accessible.

✔️ Too many young people are moving away from Florida. We need to stop the so-called “brain drain” and make Florida a place where young people want to live, work, and raise their families.

✔️Additionally, we need to recognize that the pandemic, as well as the threat of school shootings, has put a lot of strain on our educators and students and provide them additional support including mental health care.

ENSURING LOCAL CONTROL REMAINS LOCAL

Nobody knows their communities better than the folks who live and work in them. We must ensure local communities can make the decisions that are best for them. I will fight for this by:

✔️ Ensuring communities can allocate federal funds at their discretion.

✔️ Increase investments in local municipalities to allow them to invest in their local infrastructure.

✔️ Supporting our local Police and Fire Departments so they can adequately serve our communities

HEALTH CARE

I believe ….

✔️ Health care needs to be accessible to everyone. We must reign in the costs of healthcare and prescription drugs.

✔️ We must also destigmatize mental illness and make care affordable and available when people need help, whether in times of crisis or for routine care.

✔️ In a woman’s right to make her own reproductive decisions.

✔️ That seniors have a right to retire with dignity and have the necessary supports to age in place.

PUBLIC SAFETY

I believe …

✔️ We need a budget that addresses the root causes of crime and provides services, not just policing.

✔️ Our state needs to ensure police transparency and accountability

PROTECTING THOSE WHO SERVED

My son is a Veteran. He and other vets who have bravely served our state and country deserve adequate benefits and services from our state as a token of gratitude for their service. During my time in the legislature, I have been proud to championed legislation that would improve the lives of our veterans. I will continue to support our veterans by:

✔️ Ensuring we have adequate staffing levels and resources at Florida Veterans Homes.

✔️ Establishing support systems for reporting abuse and neglect at our Veterans Homes.

✔️ Streamlining services so that it is easy for veterans to access their state benefits.

✔️ Reforming and expanding access to mental health services for our veterans.

✔️ Ensuring Educational Opportunities for our Veterans.
